Early Life

Larry was born on January 1, 1993, in Cleveland, Ohio. His father, Larry Nance, was a professional basketball player who played for teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns, and his mother, Jaynee Nance, was a housewife. Pete Lucas Nance, his younger brother, is also a professional basketball player. At the age of 16, Larry was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.

He started his academic career at Revere High School in Ohio. As a senior, he averaged 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game while playing as a point guard for the freshman team. Playing at Wyoming University for the Wyoming Cowboys, Larry scored an average of 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 123 games.

Los Angeles Lakers (2015–2018)

2015–16 season

On June 25, 2015, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Larry Nance as the 27th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. In July, Larry signed a contract with the Lakers. On January 1, 2016, Larry scored a season-high 14 rebounds and added eight points in a 93–84 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Later, while playing against the Golden State Warriors, he scored a season-high six steals in a match.

2016-17 season

In October 2016, Nance made his season debut for the Los Angeles Lakers, recording five (5) points, five (5) rebounds, and two (2) assists in a game playing against the Houston Rockets. In November, he scored a season-high of six steals in a 108-115 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

He had a knee injury in December and missed four (4) weeks of play. On January 22, 2017, he returned to action after being sidelined for four weeks with a knee injury. In April, he recorded a season-high 14 rebounds, along with 12 points and three steals, in a 108–103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. In a match playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Larry scored a season-high six assists.

2017-28 season

In October of 2017, Nance made his season debut for the Lakers, where he recorded a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds while playing against the Los Angeles Clippers. In November, he was ruled out for four to six weeks because of fracturing the second metacarpal on his left hand. After the loss of 11 games, Larry returned to the game and played his first match with the Los Angeles Clippers. On December 18, he poster dunked on Kevin Durant, which many publications called one of the best dunks of the year. On February 6, 2018, Nance played his last game as a Laker, two days before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

Larry was acquired by the Portland Trail Blazers on August 28, 2021, as part of a three-team sign-and-trade that also included the Chicago Bulls, sending Derrick Jones Jr. from Portland to Chicago and Lauri Markkanen from Chicago to Cleveland.

New Orleans Pelicans (2022–present)

In February 2022, Portland traded Larry, CJ McCollum, and Tony Snell to the New Orleans Pelicans for Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomáš Satoranský, Didi Louzada, and a protected 2022 first-round draft pick. Three days later, Larry underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery. In October 2022, he signed a two-year, $21.6 million extension with the Pelicans.
