Life in the workplace
Following his graduation from Harvard, he was ranked the best fullback out of 94 available by NFLDraftscout.com. He was also drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The 2013 season was an actual kickstart to his professional journey, on May 2, 2013, the Baltimore Ravens signed Juszczyk to a four-year contract of $2.46 million which also included the signing bonus of $300,574.
In the 2014 season, Juszczyk became the Baltimore Raven’s starting fullback with the release of Vontae Leach in February. Finishing the season with 19 receptions for 182 receiving yards and a touchdown. Later he was named as a “Pro Bowl” alternate at fullback after the 2014 season.
In 2015, he returned as starting fullback after winning the job over Kiero Small in training camp. He finished the season with career-highs in 42 receptions and received 321 yards and 4 touchdowns. 2016 was the season when Juszczyk scored his first career rushing touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the occasion of Christmas. Pro Football Focus announced him as the top fullback for the season.
Juszczyk started his journey with free agency for the first time in his career in 2017, he was the best fullback in the market. Many teams like Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Brown, Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers manifested their interest in Juszczyk.
Soon on Mach 9, 2017, Juszczyk signed a contract of $21 million with the San Francisco 49ers for four years that also included $7 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $5 million.
It was the largest boom for a fullback in NFL history. Starting a new journey with the 49ers in 2017, Juszczyk has two receptions for 17 yards in the season-opening 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. On December 19, he was named to his second Pro Bowl.
In the 2018 season, Juszczyk received a 56-yard reception in the 24-16 loss against Minnesota Vikings. He finished the season with 30 receptions for 324 yards and a touchdown along with 30 rushing yards. During the 2019 season, Juszczyk caught three passes for 39 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 31-20 loss against Kansas City Chiefs.
Juszczyk’s touchdown reception in the game was the first by a Harvard alumnus in Super Bowl history and also the first by a fullback. Following in the 2020 season, he recorded 2 catches for 10 yards against Arizona Cardinals, which resulted in touchdowns during the 20-12 win. The 49ers never wanted to lose their precious gem, therefore, on March 15, 2021, they extended the contract with Juszczyk worth $27 million.
