Career
Orange Bowl winner
In 2019, in September, she represented the US in the final of the Junior Fed Cup, collaborating with Connie Ma to win the doubles match against the Czech Republic and hold the victory for the US. In December, she won the “18 and under” title in the 2019 Range Bowl.
Turned pro
Montgomery reached the quarterfinals of the 2020 Australian Open girls’ singles tournament in January, and in March, she won her first ITF championship, a $25k (INR 20.56 Lacs) event in Las Vegas. After the COVID-19 pandemic, she took part in the Western & Southern Open as a wildcard entrant in the qualifying competition, losing in the first round to tenth seed Sorana Cîrstea. Next week, she received a wildcard for the 2020 US Open. But she lost in the first round to Yulia Putintseva.
WTA 1000 debut
She made her WTA 1000 debut at the 2021 Miami Open. At the US Open, she defeated Kristina Dmitruk in straight sets. After this achievement along with her partner Ashlyn Krueger, they defeated Reese Brantmeier and Elvina Kalieva. She then became the first girl to achieve the record of winning both titles at the US Open since Michaëlla Krajicek in 2004. Apart from this, she was also the first American to take the girls’ singles title since Amanda Anisimova in 2017.
First WTA 1000 win
In 2023 she qualified for the Texas Open in Austin but lost in the first round to lucky loser CoCo Vandeweghe. She received a wildcard for the Miami Open and reached the second round, defeating Ana Bogdan for her first WTA 1000 level win.
