Early Life
Natasha was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York with her parents. Natasha is very close with her mother Joanne Hastings and her father Charles Hastings. She has a younger brother named Justin. Natasha went to A Philip Randolph Campus High School in Harlem, New York, where she was able to take her track and field interest to a more competitive level. She went to the University of South Carolina to work under Curtis Frye.
Personal Life
On July 22nd 2018 she got engaged to William Gay a former NFL cornerback. The couple never married but have a son together. In August 2019 Natasha gave birth to her first child and named him Liam.
Career
It can be said that Natasha since her childhood was into track and field because of her mother Joanne Hastings. Natasha started her track career at a very early age and earned a first-place win at the USATF Junior Olympic in the 400 meters in the Youth Girls division. Natasha attended the University of South Carolina to work under Curtis Frye. There, Natasha started to be known as “The 400 meters Diva” after accidentally describing the ladies’ track team as the “Gamecock Divas” in honour of the school’s mascot, the gamecock.
2007 was considered Natasha’s breakout year after coming back from a key injury. For the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, Natasha went home to New York and won the 400 meters Race in 51.70 seconds, a personal record at the time and was anchored 4 × 400 meters to win the fastest Collegiate time of the year. She won the SEC Championships by running 50.84 seconds in 2007.
To win the NCAA Championship title and her time in the 400 meters at 50.15 seconds was the 2nd fastest time ever at the Collegiate level she successfully completed it without being defeated all season becoming the indoor and outdoor 400 meters champion.
Natasha made the USA Olympic Track and Field team at 22 in 2008. She won an Olympic gold medal in the women’s 4 × 400 meters relay team running 49.97 seconds split in heat 2 at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The USA won their heat in 3:22.45 with a team of Mary Weinberg, Monique Henderson, Natasha Hastings and Sanya Richards–Ross. As the US won the gold in 3:18.54 Allyson Felix replaced Natasha in the finals. Athletes who run in the heats for the medal–winning teams were awarded a medal.
Natasha won the USATF 400 meters outdoor title in 49.94 seconds on 22nd June 2013. Makes the US Track and Field team in Moscow for the w013 world championships in Athletics, where she finished in 4th place. For the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, Natasha again made the US Track and Field team. In her semi-final, she finished in 5th place and did not qualify for the final. Natasha was part of the 4 x 400 meters women’s team and they finished in 2nd place and earned a silver medal.
For the 2016 Rio Olympics, finished third in the US trials with a time of 50.17 seconds in the 400 meters in Rio. Finishing the race in 50.34 seconds Natasha finished in 4th place in the final of the 400 meters. In Great North City Games in the UK in 2016, in a 150 meters Straight track race, she finished in 2nd place jy making her personal best of 16.67 seconds.
With a time of 50.52 seconds, Natasha won the 300 meters at the Golden Gala meet in Rome in 2017. At the 2017 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Natasha ran a season’s best of 50.14 seconds in the 400 meters.
