2013–2015: ATP Debut
Only eighteen years old, he qualified for the 2013 Western & Southern Open by defeating two top 100 players & never having earned an ATP point. Mackenzie lost in the first round to David Goffin in straight sets & was given a wildcard entry into the 2013 US Open qualifying.
2017: Oracle Award
He started the season by winning the singles title at the F1 Los Angeles Pro Futures held at the University of Southern California, by beating Carl Söderlund in the final by winning the last eleven games. In March at the BNP Paribas Openhe along with Danielle Collins, both were selected to receive the Oracle US Tennis Awards. It was given to outstanding collegiate players who become a professional. 2019: First Top 10 Win
He reached the final of the 2019 Dallas Challenger in February, & there he lost in three sets to Mitchell Krueger, apart from leading by a set and a break in the 2nd set. He then also participated in the 2019 Delray Beach Open where Mackenzie achieved his first top-10 win by defeating Juan Martín del Potro in the quarterfinals.
By doing so he then reached his first ATP-level semifinal where he lost to Radu Albot. His amazing form carried him on into the ATP 500 Acapulco tournament, where he reached the quarterfinals, before losing to Cameron Norrie in two sets. 2021: First ATP Final
He then started his US Open series at the Atlanta Open but lost in the first round to Emil Ruusuvuori. After that, he competed at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. & upset Nick Kyrgios, in the first round. He then defeated Denis Kudla, in the quarterfinals & then reached his second Tour-level semifinal and first at the ATP 500 level.
In the semifinals, he defeated Kei Nishikori, in three sets to reach his first ATP final before losing in the final against Jannik Sinner, in three sets. After achieving this he returned to the top 100 for the first time in 2 years, & ranked world No. 64 on 9th August 2021. At the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, he was defeated in the second round against Daniil Medvedev. He then ranked 61 at the US Open, & he upset David Goffin, in the first round. 2023: First Masters Quarterfinal
He reached his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal At the 2023 National Bank Open upsetting Andrey Rublev and wildcard Milos Raonic before losing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Finally, he recorded his 100th career win at the 2023 Rolex Paris Masters over compatriot J. J. Wolf.
