Klay Thompson was born on 8th February 1990 is an American professional basketball player. He played his first 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors & there he was part of the Splash Brothers. Early life

When he was only two years old he and his family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon, where Thompson was childhood friends and Little League teammates with fellow future NBA star Kevin Love. 

Klay Thompson College Career

He started all 33 games as a freshman for Tony Bennett at Washington State University, leading his team in three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage, and averaging 12.5 points per game. Klay was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team and College Hoops.

Professional Career

Golden State Warriors (2011–2024)

Early years (2011–2014)

Warriors general manager Larry Riley praised him for his shooting ability and expressed that Thompson would improve his defensive skills with new coach Mark Jackson. The NBA did not select him for the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend Rising Stars Challenge. The Warriors traded Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks on 13th March 2012. In the next game, he scored a season-high 26 points in a loss to the Boston Celtics.

Next week he exceeded his previous high with 27 points in a win over the New Orleans Hornets. As of mid-February 2012, he played around 17 minutes per game, but he played an average of 30 minutes per game during the next month. NBA championship (2014–2015)

In 2014 he signed a four-year contract with the Warriors & then he scored a career-high 41 points in the Warriors’ 127–104 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. On  23rd January 2015,  Klay scored a career-high 52 points, with 11 three-pointers, in a 126–101 win over the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors’ NBA-record start ended at 24 wins when they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in December. Third NBA championship (2017–2018)

On 29th October 2017, he scored 29 points in a 115–107 loss to the Detroit Pistons, becoming the eleventh player in franchise history to eclipse 9,000 career points. In December month he scored 27 of his 29 points in the first half and made his first nine field goals in a 97–84 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Same month in a 126–101 win over the Utah Jazz, he hit three three-pointers, moving him into a tie for third with Dana Barros at 89 consecutive games with a three-pointer. Next year in January he scored 38 points in a 119–112 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Dealing with injuries (2019–2022)

In July he agreed to stay with the Warriors on a five-year, $190 million (INR 15,88.85 Cr) maximum contract with an additional fifteen-percent trade kicker as a result of not making an All-NBA Team. It also made him eligible for a supermax deal like Curry was in 2017. The next day, Klay underwent successful knee surgery on his torn ACL and missed the entire 2019–20 season as a result.

He then officially re-signed with the Warriors on July 10 & returned to practice with the Warriors in September 2020. NBA championship (2022–2024)

On 8th January 2022, he announced that he would return to the court on 9th January against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his return, he scored 17 points on 7-from-18 shooting in 20 minutes, as the Warriors won 96–82. Next Month he scored 16 of his then season-high 33 points in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers in a narrow 117–115 comeback victory.

On 12th, march, he scored a then season-high 38 points along with six rebounds and five assists in a 122–109 win over the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks. In the final game of the regular season, he scored a season-high 41 points for the Warriors in a 128–107 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans to clinch the 3-seed in the Western Conference.Next year in February he came off the bench for the first time since 11th March, 2012. He then scored a season-high 35 points while surpassing 15,000 points in his career. Dallas Mavericks (2024–present)

After playing the first 13 years of his career with the Warriors, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a six-team sign and trade in July of the same year. His older brother, Michael, played basketball for Pepperdine University and had a brief stint in the NBA with the Cavaliers. His younger brother, Trayce, became a Major League Baseball player.
