Career
She started her secondary education at Oak Park High School in California and later on transferred to Westlake High School. In 2010, she took her admission to Pepperdine University in Malibu & started playing on the golf team at Pepperdine until the Spring of 2011. She then becomes ineligible for selection after she becomes a pro. During her time at Pepperdine, Kang played at the 2010 and 2011 U.S Women’s Amateur Open and played in all four Majors in 2011 as an amateur. She become notable to the media at the British Open, where she was the lowest amateur in the field.
After defending her Amateur Open title in 2011, she turned professional. In September of that same year, she played in her first event as a Pro at the Walmart NK Arkansas Championship. Unfortunately, she missed the cut & signed up for LPGA Qualifying school at the back end of 2011. She makes it through to stage three to earn Conditional Status for the 2012 season. She then played in nineteen events in 2012 and made thirteen cuts, finishing 52nd on the overall money list. After this amazing performance, she earned a full exemption for the 2013 season.
She struggled so hard to break into the top fifty on the Order of Merit until 2016, when she finished 36th, with three-season top ten finishes. In 2017, she played her first professional victory at the US Women’s PGA Championship. She made a one-shot lead to defeat Brooke Henderson and won the Major title.
