Saprissa
On January 15th, 2006, Borges, made his professional debut with Saprissa he was only eighteen years old then. Together with Saprissa, he achieved five national titles.
Fredrikstad FK
When his contract with Saprissa expired on 1st, July 2009, Fredrikstad FK’s sports director Tor-Kristian Karlsen told that he had signed for them. Later, Fredrikstad agreed to pay Deportivo Saprissa € 125,000 (INR 1.07 Cr) so Borges could join the team right away and play for Fredrikstad when the season started on 14th April against the reigning league champion Stabaek.
AIK
On 1st January 2012, it was officially declared that Borges, a free agent, will sign a three-year deal with Swedish soccer team AIK Stockholm after leaving Fredrikstad FK.
He then played in his debut game for AIK on 1st April 2012, in a contest against Mjällby AIF. But after the summer break, he stopped and started playing as a central midfielder, and as a result, he became the team’s first pick at that position.
Deportivo La Coruña
Borges signed a contract with Deportivo de La Corua on 14th January 2015 and played for them through the conclusion of the current campaign with a two-year extension option. He then started in a 1-2 away win over Rayo Vallecano on 30th January, which served as his La Liga debut, and scored twice in his first official game for Dépor.
International Career
With 153 caps and 27 goals, he now leads the national football team’s appearance record. He has also played for his country in more than 50 FIFA World Cup qualifying games, as well as at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
