Career
The famous coach Nick Saviano joined with her father as her head coach & both helped develop her talent. At only fourteen years old, she won her first Category A tournament and quickly ranked in her junior career. Along with this she also secured a US Open Junior finals win against Cory Gauff. Her achievements in her junior career helped her in being ranked second.
In 2017, she reached her first ITF finals, and within some days later at the Roland Garros and the Sacramento 60-thousand tournament which resulted in a place in the top 200. The year 2018 was the most successful for her career. It gave her her first WTA match win against Pauline Parmentier, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitova. A foot injury is also responsible for a break, but she returned soon for a successful run to the finals in Hiroshima, & which secured her a place in the top 100.
The next year she was on the line towards top-10 players, with an amazing start in Australia. She received her first WTA trophy at Copa Colsanitas and also gave a remarkable performance at Roland Garros, by reaching the semifinals. But unfortunately, she lost her father and also got a back injury, these both caused her to withdraw from some tournaments which impacted her performance for a short time.
In 2021, she started on a positive note with a final appearance at the Melbourne Summer Set 2, & there she claimed victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich. This was also her first final appearance since 2019.
Her same performance continued at the Australian Open, where she defeated Naomi Osaka in a highly competitive match. Being a set down and facing two match points she lost to Ash Barty. This successful start of the year helped her move up 19 positions in the rankings to No. 41.
Apart from a second-round defeat in Doha to Jeļena Ostapenko, she reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open & won against two top-ranked Belarusian players, Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka. That year Wimbledon saw her reach the quarter-finals for the first time, though she lost to Simona Halep. Later in the same year at the US Open, she lost in the first round to Yulia Putintseva.
She then gradually recovered from a foot injury. She started her 2023 season in Adelaide. She lost in the first round against, Veronika Kudermetova. At the second tournament, she fell in the final round of qualifying against Jil Teichmann. Unfortunately, Jessica Pegula withdrew from the tournament due to a change of schedule.
